How long will it take?
The length of time it takes to resolve any case varies from case to case. However, oftentimes a case can be filed in a jurisdiction which will expedite your claim if you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma.
In addition, it is important to get experienced representation. Attorneys who have successfully handled mesothelioma cases in the past are often able to resolve a case at an earlier date. We have often been able to resolve a case in as little as seven months. Sometimes, the client or their families can start receiving settlement monies in even less than seven months, but this varies from case to case.
In a number of jurisdictions, if the individual with mesothelioma is living, the court or judge will expedite the case so that it moves much more quickly and the defendants cannot stall. In at least one jurisdiction, the court has set trial dates as early as seven months after the lawsuit is filed for living mesothelioma victims. This often means that the case can be settled in less than seven months.
Bear in mind that there are statutes of limitation to consider. It is always better to get the process moving as quickly as possible.
